Dunlins recorded per party hr on the Waipi'o Christmas Count, Kaua'i, 1977-2014

(see Count Page), showing a decline in numbers between the 1970-1980s and the

1990-2010s. This change is likely related to changing habitat related to the removal

of sugar-mill settling ponds on the Waipi'o Peninsula during the 1990s.
