Sanderlings recorded per party hr on the Waipi'o Christmas Count, O'ahu, 1977-

2014 (see Count Page), showing a  decline from the late 1970s through the late 1990s followed by an increase through the early 2010s. The variability in numbers

otherwise may reflect ENSO events, with higher numbers generally being recorded

in Hawaii during El Niņo years.
