Though mostly found at very low elevations, especially along the coasts of the Big Island, Megalagrion xanthomelas has been found at much higher elevations on the island of Lana'i. Here at Maunalei Gulch, it was found at roughly 120 meters. It has also been found over at almost 1000 meters on Lana'i.
