Classroom learning

The first week of the Lāna‘i Conservation Internship involved the hands-on learning of basic concepts of the natural history of the Hawaiian Islands, botanical terms, and conservation history of Lāna‘i. Interns learned how to use 10x magnifiers to look at the smaller identifying features of plants, and got their hands dirty learning how to determine the texture and acidity, or pH, of soils.
