`Akohekohe

The endangered `akohekohe or crested honeycreeper is found only in the rainforests of East Maui from 4,500 to 6500 feet. It feeds on `ohia blossom nectar. the bird dispalys some of the most unusual colors of any of the native Hawaiian honeycreepers.
