Hawaii's Extinct Species -- Snails

As with all extinct species, we can never know if each one is truly extinct. Most of those listed here have not been seen for the last 30-50 years. However, there is always a slim chance that intensive surveys will rediscover species previously thought to be extinct. The recent Megalagrion damselfly surveys in the 1990s have shown that extensive surveying can sometimes reveal small surviving populations of species otherwise thought to have been extinct for many years. Those species listed below with a are considered by IUCN Red List as extinct; the others are critically endangered and most likely extinct.
