Blackline Megalagrion DamselflyScientific name: Megalagrion nigrohamatum nigrolineatum
USFWS Status: Candidate.
Distribution: Oahu.
Map: [ click here ]
This endemic Oahu species was once known from both mountain ranges, but now appears to have been extirpated from the Waianae Range and is only found in scattered colonies in the Koolau Range. The immatures breed in pools in upland streams, and in seepage-fed pools that border them (Polhemus & Asquith, 1996). Adults are weak fliers and often perch on streamside rocks or vegetation.
