The large immatures of this species are found in gravel and moss pads in the swift water sections of perennial streams in habitats similar to those favored by Megalagrion blackburni and M. heterogamias (Polhemus & Asquith, 1996). This species is restricted to Oahu where it was once known from both the Waianae and Koolau Mountain Ranges. It is now only found in the Koolau Range, the Waianae Range populations having been extirpated.
