Fiji Arthropod Survey
Funded by the National Science Foundation and the Schlinger Foundation
The Fiji Terrestrial Arthropod Survey was a three-year survey of selected biodiverse
arthropods occurring in the Fiji Islands. The project had 5
primary parts.
- surveys, which include various trapping methods;
- training of in-country personnel to assist with sorting and identification
of selected arthropods;
- upgrading an insect facility in Suva
to help create and maintain the Fiji National Insect Collection (FNIC)
there through staffing, supplies, and voucher specimens;
- publication results of the project; and
- publication and online availability of a checklist and bibliography
of Fijian Arthropods
Although NSF funding has ended, we continue to update the Fiji checklists and bibliographiy. See progress below.
