The family Parapleciidae was erected by Hong (1983) for the monotypic genus
Paraplecia Hong found in the Middle Jurassic deposits of Liaoning, China.
Hong (1983) stated that the family is related to Paraxymyiidae and Eopleciidae
based on venational characters.
