The family Sinotendipedidae was proposed by Hong & Wang (1990) for the
monobasic genus Sinotendipes Hong & Wang, 1990. It is known only
from the single holotype specimen from Upper Jurassic Laiyang Formation
of China. Hong & Wang (1990) placed it close to the Chironomidae and
their family Paratendipedidae.
