Have you ever heard high voltage wires buzz? OK, but right outside your living room window!? The most likely culprit would be this guy sitting in a bush and buzzing to attract a mate. These insects are commonly called cone-headed grasshoppers and you can see why. This species is introduced, but we have similar looking species that are native in the genus Banza that sometimes get mistaken for this alien and are killed.
