This native goby requires clean, clear, swift moving streams to live. It has strong pelvic fins that allow it to scramble up waterfalls to the upper reaches of streams. It has been known to climb up the steep 1,000-foot high Hi`ilawe Falls on the Big Island. It feeds on plant and animal matter. [ full story ]
