All sea urchins have spines extending from a round body. The mouth is on the underside where it scrapes food from the bottom. The pebble collector urchin has short spines. During the day it covers itself with bits of broken coral, seaweeds, and other debris. Other sea urchins include the long-spined black wana and the heavy-spined red pencil urchin or hä‘uke‘uke ula‘ula.
