  • At the beginning of the Hāna Conservation Internship, each of the Interns were given two native Hawaiian plant species to propagate and research. One of the plant species was propagated from cuttings, the other from seed. The interns formulated an hypothesis and developed methods for propagation: a control and a treatment, with several replicates. The interns observed the germination and rooting progress of their species during the six-week program.

During the final three weeks of the program, the interns researched their plant species, and developed Microsoft Powerpoint presentations of their findings and experimental results. Both book and web-based research were undertaken, and the interns developed useful computer skills. Their work was presented to colleagues and Internship staff on the last day of the program.

Take a look at their efforts!
