     There has always been a need for a medium to publish the results of bibliographic research in zoology, including finding accurate dates of publication, which are used to establish priority in nomenclature. Many journals have published these studies but all have resorted to a printed medium, even if making articles also available in electronic format. We editors have decided to establish Sherbornia to fill the need for faster dissemination of such bibliographic research by publishing the results in an open-access electronic format that can be downloaded free of charge. Additionally, no page charges will be levied to authors in the publication of their results.
