Homepage / Checklist of families
Rohdendorf (1962) erected this family based on two genera, Architendipes
and Palaeotendipes. Hennig (1969c), basing his remarks solely on
critiques of Rohdendorf's illustrations, stated that Architendipes
and Palaeotendipes are most likely chironomids. Examination of type
specimens are required to ascertain their true position among the nematocerous
Diptera. Ashe (1983) treated both genera as "Incertae sedis".
Ross & Jarzemboski (1993: 398) listed the family as spanning the entire
Triassic, though no literature records have been found by me to support
this claim.
