The family Archizelmiridae was erected by Rohdendorf (1962) for the monobasic
genus Archizelmira from the Upper Jurassic deposits of Karatau in
Kazakhstan. Rohdendorf (1964) placed the family in the Bibionomorpha near
the Pleciofungivoridae.
