Homepage / Checklist of families
Hong & Wang (1990) erected the family Asiochaoboridae for their new
genera Asiochaoborous, Chaoboropsis, Sinochaoborus,
and Sunochaoborus from the Jurassic Laiyang deposits of China. It
is premature at this time to make any judgment concerning their placement
within the nematocerous Diptera families. They are provisionally placed
in this catalog as a separate family following Hong & Wang (1990) pending
further study and comparison with Chaoboridae, Corethrellidae, and other
related culicoid Diptera.
