Homepage / Checklist of families

The family Canthyloscelididae includes genera that were previously placed in the Hyperoscelidae (Canthyloscelididae is an older name for these taxa). Hutson (1977) reviewed the genera and revised the generic composition of this family and the family Synneuridae. Larvae of extant forms have been recorded from decaying wood of various trees.

The fossil recorded by Eskov (1992: 324) is the first record of this Synneuron Lundström from the Southern Hemisphere

Ref.: Hutson (1977, revision of extant taxa).
