Family EODITOMYIIDAE

The family Eoditomyiidae was proposed by Ansorge (1996a) for his monobasic genus Eoditomyia, known only from a single species from the Lower Jurassic deposits of Mecklenberg, Germany. Its familial placement is presumed to be in the Sciaroidea as a putative ancestor of the current family Ditomyiidae (Blagoderov et al., 2002).
