The family Eopolyneuridae was proposed by Rohdendorf (1962) for two genera,
Eopolyneura Rohdendorf and Pareopolyneura Rohdendorf, both
found in the Jurassic deposits of Issyk-Kul', Kirghizistan. Rohdendorf (1962)
classified the genera in this family as being members of Rohdendorf's superfamily
Eopolyneuridea in the Tipulomorpha.
Since both fossils are known only from wings and the type specimen (wing)
of Pareopolyneura is fragmented, it is premature at this time to
make conclusions on their classification until the type specimens can be
restudied.
