What she does

I work in a herbarium, supervise our volunteer staff, coordinate projects in the herbarium, do field surveys and plant identifications.

How she got into science

Both my grandmothers were very aware of their natural environment, especially plants. If they didn't know what a plant was they found out. I think that is why science was always my favorite subject in school and why I now work with plants.

Favorite accomplishments

Building up and maintaining a large volunteer staff within the botany department. We have a great time and get lot s of work done besides. The herbarium wouldn't run without our volunteers.

In her free time

Barb enjoys skateboarding, surfing and learning to play the ukulele with her two sons, swimming and reading.
