"I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to our understanding of Hawaiian natural history." |
What he does
Conducts natural history surveys and consults with resource managers regarding conservation of native species.
How he got into science
My father was a member of the Hawaii mountain and trail club. He would take my brother and I on many long hikes to remote sites in the forest. While on these hikes we became exposed to many of Hawaii's unique plants and animals. These hiking trips instilled in us a deep respect for the forest and our native species.
Favorite accomplishments
Coordinated and conducted natural history surveys in North Halawa Valley, Oahu. Developed a comprehensive arthropod restoration plan for Laysan Island.
In his free time
David looks for collectibles and antiques at the swap meet. |
