Black-necked (Hawaiian) Stilts recorded per party hr on the Kapa'a Christmas

Count, 1971-2014 (see Count Page), indicating a significantly increasing trend,

opposite to that of the Honolulu Christmas Count. Fluctuations in numbers apart

from the trends reflect favorable and unfavorable conditions for breeding, as related

primarily to rainfall totals (see also Common Moorhen and Hawaiian Coot).
