The last day of the second week of the program culminated in a trip on to Hāna Ranch to work with the Maui Invasive Species Committee Hāna crew in eradicating the invasive species Miconia. Led by Darrell Aquino, the interns and Bishop Museum staff were instructed in the protocols used to prevent the spread of Miconia. All involved donned special clothing and boots, dedicated to fieldwork in Miconia infested areas. These are specially washed and decontaminated after every use.
