At the top of the hill the interns recounted how many Miconia plants they eradicated. Some found none, others found hundreds of seedlings. One of the interns proudly displays one of his Miconia finds. This species produced many long-lived seeds and shades out native vegetation, making it one of the most invasive of plant species. Even after searching this area of Hāna Ranch for many years, the MISC team is still finding new seedlings.
