The Interns were fortunate to be taken on a tour of the National Tropical Botanic Garden's Kahanu Garden, lead by Kamaui Aiona. The interns were introduced to the many varieties of crop plants developed by Old Hawaiians, and how it is important that garden's such as Kahanu Garden conserve and protect the many different varieties for future generations. Here they are observing the differences in the many varieties of Hawaiian sugar cane.
